This project required a production solution for HDPE/PP plate in Germany. The customer operates in Europe and commissioned the line in 2026 to supply HDPE/PP plates (wide-format rigid plate) for chemical- and corrosion-resistant tank and container lining and related applications.


Compared with standard-width flat extrusion, a line at 2,200 mm finished width with a stated output of 1,000 kg/h places higher demands on melt distribution, thickness control, cooling, web handling and the coordination of the complete production line.

JWELL Customized Solution

JWELL supplied an HDPE/PP plate extrusion line solution based on its JWELL wide-format HDPE/PP plate extrusion platform. The line combines the extrusion system with a flat die, three-roll polishing and cooling calender for wide-format plate, cooling and haul-off equipment and the downstream finishing section. The individual sections operate as one coordinated system to support consistent product formation and stable production.


The line was proposed at a stated output of 1,000 kg/h for a finished width of 2,200 mm. The final screw configuration, die size and downstream layout are defined during project review according to the raw material formulation, product specification and factory conditions. Production Process

"Automatic weighing and dosing system (HDPE/PP with regrind and additives) → Vented single-screw extrusion →Automatical T-die → Vertical Three-roll calender → Thickness gauging → Edge trimming → Haul-off → Cooling section  → Automatic sacking and stacking devices


HDPE and PP are generally processed without drying; regrind from edge trimming and off-cuts is proportioned back into the virgin material stream. A vented single-screw extruder removes moisture and volatiles, and the melt is filtered and metered before entering a wide flat die matched to the finished width of 2,200 mm.


Uniform melt distribution across the wide die, combined with a three-roll polishing stack, controls the flatness, surface finish and thickness of the plate and board. For thicker board, a downstream cooling section slows the cooling rate to prevent warpage and residual internal stress. Inline thickness gauging, edge trimming, a haul-off with flying-saw cut-to-length and an automatic stacking station complete the line for dimensionally stable HDPE/PP boards.

Installation and Commissioning

"The installation and commissioning scope for this project covers the main extrusion system, die and forming section, cooling and haul-off equipment and the downstream finishing or winding unit.


During trial production the technical team checks the coordination of the complete line, including extrusion stability, melt distribution across the working width, cooling, haul-off synchronization and finished-roll or cut-plate quality.
