This project required a production solution for PET sheet in Mexico. The customer operates in Latin America and commissioned the line in 2026 to supply PET sheets (amorphous PET thermoforming sheet) for food and beverage packaging trays and related applications.


Compared with standard-width flat extrusion, a line at 1,200 mm finished width with a stated output of 1,000 kg/h places higher demands on melt distribution, thickness control, cooling, web handling and the coordination of the complete production line.

JWELL Customized Solution

JWELL supplied a PET sheet extrusion line solution based on its JWELL PET sheet extrusion platform. The line combines the extrusion system with a flat die, three-roll polishing and cooling calender, cooling and haul-off equipment and the downstream finishing section. The individual sections operate as one coordinated system to support consistent product formation and stable production.


The line was proposed at a stated output of 1,000 kg/h for a finished width of 1,200 mm. The final screw configuration, die size and downstream layout are defined during project review according to the raw material formulation, product specification and factory conditions.

Production Process

rPET/virgin PET feeding → Pre-crystallization, Dehumidifying & Drying → Tiwn-scrw extrusion → T-die distribution → J-type Three-roll calender → Silicone oil coating →Oven→ Haul-off → Accumulator →3 station automatic winder


PET must be crystallized before drying: amorphous pellets soften and stick together when heated, which would block the drying hopper and the extruder throat. The pre-crystallizer first converts the pellets into a stable crystalline form, then the dehumidifying dryer reduces the moisture content to a very low level, because residual moisture hydrolyzes the PET chain and causes IV loss, haze and brittleness in the finished sheet.


After plasticizing in a parallel twin-screw extruder, the melt is filtered to remove gels and contaminants (particularly important when rPET flakes are used) and delivered at constant pressure by a melt pump for uniform gauge. The melt passes through a flat die onto a three-roll polishing stack that determines the sheet's optical clarity and surface quality. Inline thickness gauging with closed-loop die adjustment, edge trimming and a stable haul-off and winding/cutting section complete the line, keeping the finished PET sheet within tight thickness and clarity tolerances for thermoforming applications.


Note: The final line configuration can be adjusted according to the raw material formulation, product thickness, surface structure, roll width, production capacity and the level of automation required.

Installation and Commissioning

The installation and commissioning scope for this project covers the main extrusion system, die and forming section, cooling and haul-off equipment and the downstream finishing or winding unit.


During trial production the technical team checks the coordination of the complete line, including extrusion stability, melt distribution across the working width, cooling, haul-off synchronization and finished-roll or cut-sheet quality.
